Terms of Use

What you can do with the Atlas and its findings, what the numbers mean, and how to tell us when one of them is wrong.

Last updated

01Using this site

AJ 2054 is published by Reut USA and is free to use. By using it you accept these terms. Do not use the site to break the law, to harass anyone, or to attack the service or the people it covers.

02Using the Atlas and the findings

The Atlas exists to be used. You may read, quote, cite, and present its figures in your own work, including in board papers, grant applications, press, and research, provided you credit “AJ 2054, an initiative of Reut USA” and link to the community profile or page you drew from.

What you may not do is republish the dataset wholesale as your own product, or present a modified version of the scores as though it were ours. If you want the underlying data for research, ask us; that is usually a yes.

03What the figures are, and what they are not

The scores on this site are analysis, not measurement of fact, and they are not professional advice of any kind. They combine published population estimates, incident data, geography, and organizational indicators into composite scores designed to make communities comparable to each other.

Some inputs are estimates or regionally modeled rather than directly reported, and each community profile states the source and confidence for its figures. Read those before you rely on a number. Decisions about funding, security, staffing, or a community's future are yours, and should be made with local knowledge alongside this analysis, not from a score on its own.

The site is provided as it is, without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

04Currency of the data and frequency of updates

The Atlas is a living dataset. Its contents are revised on an ongoing basis as source material is republished, as communities complete new studies, and as errors are identified and corrected. Any figure displayed on this site is a point-in-time representation of the best information available to AJ 2054 as at the date shown alongside it, and may be superseded without prior notice.

The underlying sources are published by third parties on independent and irregular schedules. Federal tax filings are released on a statutory lag of two or more years; incident data is compiled annually and revised retrospectively; local population studies are commissioned by individual communities at intervals that commonly exceed a decade. Accordingly, figures on this site will differ in vintage from one another and from one community to another, and a more recent figure may exist elsewhere at any given time. Where a figure's source, year, or confidence is stated on a community profile or in the accompanying documentation, that statement governs, and it should be read in preference to any general description of the dataset given here or elsewhere on the site.

AJ 2054 undertakes to correct identified errors and to refresh the dataset periodically. It does not warrant that any figure is current, complete, or free from error at the moment of access, and it assumes no obligation to update any particular figure on any particular schedule or to notify users when a figure changes. Nothing on this site should be relied upon as the current or authoritative population, financial, or security position of any community without independent verification against the primary source cited.

05Corrections

If a figure about your community is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Corrections that come with a source move fastest. Use the Get Involved page, and see the FAQ for what the committee needs.

06Third-party data and imagery

This site displays material owned by others, used under their own terms and credited where it appears:

  • Map tiles by CARTO, built on OpenStreetMap data, copyright the OpenStreetMap contributors.
  • Earth imagery from the NASA Earth Observatory: Blue Marble, Black Marble, and GEBCO bathymetry.
  • Antisemitic incident counts from the Anti-Defamation League and FBI hate crime statistics.
  • Jewish population estimates from the American Jewish Year Book and federation reporting.
  • Security coverage mapped against Secure Community Network regions.

None of these organizations endorse AJ 2054 or its conclusions. The analysis is ours.

07Links away from this site

We link to organizations, profiles, and sources we do not control. A link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for what is on the other end of it.

08Donations

AJ 2054 does not take money in its own name. Every donate control on this site sends you to Reut USA's donation page, and any gift is made to Reut USA under its terms and its charitable registration. Questions about a donation, a receipt, or a refund go to Reut USA directly.

09Changes

These terms may change as the initiative does. The date at the top of this page shows when they last did.
